What it is

This is a replacement — or upgrade — lid designed specifically for S'well's Traveler tumbler line. The mechanism is straightforward: a hinged straw that flips upright when you want to drink and snaps flush when you're done. No unscrewing, no fumbling, no spillage on the commute home.

How it actually performs

The flip action is satisfying in the way a good pen click is satisfying — there's a decisive snap in both directions. Closed, it holds. We've tossed the tumbler sideways in a bag without incident. The straw position, once open, is fixed at the right angle for comfortable sipping whether you're at a desk or in the car.

At 0.11 lb, the lid adds almost nothing to your carry weight, which matters if you're already hauling a full 40 oz of coffee to an 8am meeting.

The honest part

Seventeen dollars is real money for a lid. That's worth sitting with for a second. If your Traveler tumbler came with a standard lid and you've had zero complaints, this is a want, not a need. Where it earns its price is for people who drink constantly throughout the day and find themselves unscrewing and rescrewing a conventional lid dozens of times — that friction adds up, and the flip straw eliminates it entirely.

The straw itself requires cleaning. A quick rinse won't cut it for anything other than water; if you're running cold brew or smoothies through it, you need a straw brush. S'well sells one, but it's an additional ask.

Compatibility

This lid is built for the S'well Traveler. It is not a universal fit. If you own a different S'well line — the Original, the Roamer, the Tumbler — this won't thread on. Check your bottle's name before ordering.

We'd put this in the hands of anyone who drinks at a desk all day, commutes by car, or takes walks with a tumbler in hand. The leakproof flip straw removes the small but real mental load of managing an open lid.
