How It Actually Performs

Sixty hours is the headline claim, and while we haven't stress-tested it in a Texas July, the physics back it up: triple-layer vacuum insulation is the same technology in the best thermoses on the market, and ice has a slower melt rate inside stainless than it does in glass or plastic. In practical terms, a bucket filled the night before a dinner party will still have plenty of ice when guests arrive the next evening — and the condensation-free exterior means you can set it directly on your sideboard, dining table, or bar cart without a coaster or linen underneath.

The Teakwood colorway leans warm — think amber-brown with subtle texture — which reads as quietly luxurious rather than the blacked-out tactical aesthetic that exhausted everyone around 2021. It would look at home next to linen napkins and aged rattan just as easily as it would on a minimalist marble counter.

The Details That Matter

The included ice scoop is a small but meaningful thing. It fits inside the bucket under the lid, which means it's always there when you need it and never the mystery item rolling around the back of a drawer. The lid is stainless steel — same material as the bucket — so it's not a flimsy afterthought. At 1.77 lbs empty, the full bucket will have some heft; plan accordingly if you're carrying it room to room.

The Honest Part

Eighty-four dollars is real money for an ice bucket when you can find plastic ones for $12. The case for spending it comes down to two things: longevity (this isn't cracking or degrading in five years) and the condensation issue, which the cheap plastic versions genuinely cannot solve. If you entertain even a few times a year and have been tolerating water rings or wrapping your bucket in a towel, the upgrade pays for itself in annoyance avoided.

Hand wash only is the legitimate inconvenience. Vacuum-insulated double-wall construction cannot go in the dishwasher — the heat degrades the seal — so you will be hand-washing this one. That's standard across all vacuum-insulated products; S'well isn't the exception.
