That's a meaningful safety feature if you do any pre-dawn or post-dusk miles, and it's baked into the fabric rather than slapped on as a single strip.

The fit and feel

At 0.26 lb, there's essentially nothing here, which is exactly what you want from a running short. The internal jacquard elastic waistband sits without digging — jacquard weave has more give than flat elastic, so it stays put during longer efforts without leaving a mark. The drawstring with plastic pulls lets you dial in the waist if you're between sizes or just prefer a locked-in feel. The internal mesh brief lining is the detail that earns trust: it's supportive enough that you don't need a separate layer underneath, and mesh keeps things from getting clammy on humid days.

The polyester/elastane blend is the standard choice for a reason — stretch without sag, and it dries fast. The PFC-free DWR finish is a quieter win: most water-repellent coatings use per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a class of persistent chemicals with a growing regulatory and health-concern profile. Proviz made the call to leave them out. The DWR will still bead water off a light shower; it's not a waterproof shell, but it handles the kind of drizzle you decide to run through anyway.

The pocket situation

One back zip pocket. That's it — no side seam pocket, no phone-sized stash. For a key, a card, or a folded gel packet, it works. For an iPhone 15 Pro? You'll be making a choice. If you run with your phone, this is worth knowing before you buy.

Who this is really for

These make the most sense for road runners and cyclists who train in mixed-light conditions and want visibility that doesn't require a separate reflective vest or layering decision. The $24.99 price keeps them in impulse-buy range — easy to grab as a second or third pair when the first is in the wash. The minimalist aesthetic means they don't read as "safety gear" in daylight; the reflective elements are design details until a car's headlights hit them.

One honest caveat

The reflective-print approach is less bombproof than dedicated reflective tape over time — repeated washing and abrasion will eventually dull reflective print more than woven-in materials. Proviz doesn't specify wash-cycle durability on the print, so treat with cold water and turn them inside out to be safe. Also: one color, one silhouette, limited size range information available — if you need extended sizing or a longer inseam, check the retailer's size chart carefully before ordering.
