The verdict

At $34.99, the Proviz Reflective Running Hydration LED Vest is one of the most complete low-light running kits we've seen at this price — three built-in LEDs, REFLECT360 trim, a 450ml soft flask, and a phone pocket, all under a pound.

What we love

  • Three LEDs plus REFLECT360 trim is an unusually complete visibility setup at this price
  • All-in-one: hydration flask, phone pocket, key pocket, and rear storage in one vest
  • Genuinely lightweight at 0.35 lb — doesn't add perceived load on a run
  • Wide adjustability accommodates a broad range of body types across just two sizes
  • Multi-activity design works for running, hiking, and cycling commutes

Worth knowing

  • 450ml (roughly 15 oz) flask is too small for runs longer than 45–60 minutes in warm conditions
  • Only two size variants means fit precision depends heavily on the adjustable straps
  • Front phone pocket placement won't suit runners who prefer rear or arm-mounted phone carry
  • LEDs illuminate your presence but won't light your path — you'll want a headlamp for unlit trails

Our review

Why We Like This at $35

Most running vests at this price ask you to choose: visibility or hydration or storage. Proviz skips that negotiation entirely. The LED vest ships with three lights, a soft water bottle, and enough pocket space for your phone, keys, and whatever else you cram in before a 5am run. That's not nothing — it's the kind of product that earns a permanent hook by the door.

The Visibility System

Proviz built their name on reflective gear, and the REFLECT360 trim on this vest is the same technology they use on their more expensive jackets — it bounces light from car headlights back in a wide arc rather than the narrow beam you get from cheaper retroreflective strips. Layered on top of that are three LEDs (two white at the front, one red at the back), each switchable between constant, fast flash, and flash modes. You're not getting the blinding lumens of a dedicated headlamp, but for making yourself visible to traffic and other trail users, the combination works. The red rear LED is particularly useful for cycling crossover situations.

Hydration and Storage

The 450ml soft flask is the right call for its use case: a 5K, a 45-minute trail loop, a shorter hike. It tucks into the vest so you barely feel it moving. The front phone pocket accommodates a standard smartphone (that 60/15/25 nylon-spandex-TPU blend has meaningful stretch), and the shoulder key pocket is exactly what it sounds like — small, secure, and stops your keys from jangling against your collarbone. The large rear zippered pocket handles gels, a thin layer, or earbuds. SBS zips throughout means they won't corrode or snag.

Fit and Feel

At 0.35 lb the vest barely registers, and the side mesh panels do real work — stretch without bulk, airflow without flapping. Adjustable chest buckles and side straps mean you can dial it in whether you run lean or broad. That said, Proviz offers only two sizes (S/M for 28–38" chests, M/L for 38–50"), so if you're near the edges of those bands, you're relying on the adjustability to compensate.

The Honest Caveats

The 450ml flask is genuinely small — roughly 15 oz. For a 10K or longer in warm weather, you'll be hunting for a water fountain partway through. This isn't a vest designed for half-marathon training or summer ultras; it's designed for the kind of activity where you want some water and mostly want to feel safe in the dark. Also: there's no dedicated bladder compatibility here, so you can't upgrade the hydration capacity.

The front phone pocket placement is sensible but takes getting used to — some runners prefer their phone at the back or on an arm strap for balance reasons. Worth trying before committing to a long run.

Common questions

Reflective Running Hydration LED Vest, answered

How big is the water bottle that comes with the Proviz hydration vest?

The included soft flask holds 450ml — roughly 15 oz. It's sufficient for shorter runs (30–50 minutes) or a moderate hike, but most runners doing more than 10K in warm weather will need to refuel en route.

How many LED modes does the Proviz LED running vest have?

Three modes: constant on, fast flash, and flash. The vest has two white LEDs at the front and one red LED at the back, each switchable independently.

What chest sizes does the Proviz hydration vest fit?

It comes in two variants: S/M fits approximately 28–38 inch chests, and M/L fits approximately 38–50 inch chests. Both have adjustable chest buckles and side straps for a more tailored fit within those ranges.

Can I use this vest for hiking, or is it just for running?

Proviz markets it as multi-activity, and the design holds up for hiking — the breathable mesh panels and adjustable fit work for hiking pace as well as running. The LED visibility features are particularly useful on wooded or predawn trails.

Will my phone fit in the front pocket?

The front pocket is designed for smartphones and uses a stretchy TPU-blend fabric, so it accommodates most standard-sized phones. Very large phones (think Plus or Max models) may be a tighter fit — check the pocket dimensions against your specific model if you're on the larger end.

Is the Proviz LED vest good for cycling?

The REFLECT360 trim and rear red LED make it a reasonable choice for low-light cycling commutes. It's not purpose-built for cycling — there's no dedicated cycling cut or helmet strap — but many commuters use it exactly this way.
