Best for
Runners and commuter cyclists who regularly train in low-light or pre-dawn conditions on roads shared with traffic.
Skip if
You run primarily in daylight or in rain — this jacket won't keep you dry, and its reflectivity offers no advantage when it's already light out.

The verdict
The Proviz Fully Reflective Running Jacket 2.0 is the most visible thing you can wear on a dark road — because the entire shell is retroreflective, not just a few strips — making it the only jacket we'd confidently recommend for early-morning or after-dark miles where cars are a real concern.
What we love
- Entire shell is retroreflective — visible from all angles in headlights, not just from behind
- Genuinely lightweight at 170g; you forget you're wearing it on easy runs
- Windproof with a zip guard and lock zip that actually seals out drafts
- Mesh ventilation at rear, sides, and underarms prevents the sauna effect
- Tailored fit looks intentional rather than emergency-safety-kit
Worth knowing
- Windproof only — not waterproof, so a rainy night run will soak through
- Reflective material has a crinkle-paper hand feel that some runners find stiff or noisy
- Two exterior pockets only — no internal chest pocket or secure phone storage
- Single-use aesthetic: the silver reflective look isn't versatile beyond dark-conditions running
Our review
Why this jacket exists
Most high-visibility running gear hedges. It's mostly black with a couple of reflective seams, or it's neon yellow that looks good under streetlights but goes invisible the moment a car's headlights sweep past. Proviz took a different approach with this jacket: the entire outer shell is made from retroreflective material. Every inch of it bounces light back toward its source. In headlights, the jacket lights up like a road sign. That's the whole premise, and it works.
What it's like to run in
At 170g, it's genuinely lightweight — you notice the weight of it less than you notice a heavier long-sleeve base layer. The tailored cut runs closer to the body than the boxy emergency-poncho silhouette you'd expect from safety-focused gear, which matters for both comfort and the way it handles wind. Speaking of which: it's windproof, with a zip guard and lock zip that keep drafts out at the chest.
Breathability is handled through mesh panels at the rear, sides, and under the arms. For a jacket this packable and light, that ventilation actually makes a difference — it's not a sweat trap in the way a full windbreaker can be. You'll still run warm in it if the temperature climbs above 50°F or so, but at that point you probably don't need a jacket anyway.
The elastic waist keeps things in place over a long run, and two side pockets give you somewhere to stash a key fob and a gel. Not a lot of storage, but it's what the category usually offers.
The one honest caveat
This jacket is windproof, not waterproof. A light mist? Fine. A proper rain run? You'll get wet, and the reflective material — which has a slightly coated, crinkle-paper texture — absorbs moisture in a way that makes the jacket noticeably heavier when soaked. If your dark runs frequently coincide with rain, you'll want to weigh this against a waterproof alternative, even if it costs you some reflectivity.
The reflective silver-white look is also its only look. There's nothing subtle about it, which is the point — but it does mean the jacket lives and dies by one use case. It's not a jacket you reach for on a sunny Saturday morning jog.
Who it's actually for
Commuter runners and early-morning regulars who share roads with traffic. Cyclists cross-shop this jacket heavily, and it works just as well on a bike. At $67.99 it's not cheap for a single-purpose piece, but it's priced fairly for what the retroreflective material costs to produce, and it's meaningfully safer than anything in the same price range that uses reflective strips rather than a full reflective shell.
Common questions
Men's Fully Reflective Running Jacket 2.0, answered
Is the Proviz reflective jacket waterproof?
No — the jacket is windproof, not waterproof. It will handle light mist, but it's not designed for running in sustained rain. If wet conditions are frequent for you, factor that in before buying.
How visible is the Proviz fully reflective jacket at night?
Significantly more visible than jackets that use reflective strips. The entire outer shell is retroreflective material, meaning it bounces light directly back toward its source — a passing car's headlights will illuminate the whole jacket rather than just a seam or panel.
Is the Proviz jacket good for cycling as well as running?
Yes. While it's sold as a running jacket, the retroreflective shell and windproof construction make it equally well-suited to commuter cycling. Many cyclists specifically seek it out.
Does the Proviz reflective jacket breathe well?
Better than you'd expect from a windproof shell. Mesh panels at the rear, sides, and underarms provide ventilation. It's not as breathable as a woven wind shirt with DWR, but it avoids the full sweat-trap effect on moderate-effort runs.
What temperature range is the Proviz Running Jacket 2.0 best for?
It's best in cool to cold conditions — roughly 30–55°F — where the windproofing earns its keep. At higher temperatures the jacket traps too much heat to be comfortable.
How does the Proviz 2.0 compare to the original Proviz reflective jacket?
The 2.0 version improves on the original with better breathability (the mesh panel placement) and a more tailored fit. The core technology — 100% reflective outer shell — carries over.
