Proviz has built a reputation around one obsession: making sure drivers see you. Their jackets and vests command real money. So when we found this belt at $9.99, our first instinct was skepticism. A throwaway price usually means throwaway quality. But the REFLECT360 patterning here is the same reflective technology Proviz uses across their full line — it bounces headlights back at drivers from a meaningful distance, which is more than you can say for the vague "reflective accents" stitched onto most running accessories.

The belt weighs 0.22 lb, which is to say you won't notice it once it's on. The 92% polyester, 8% spandex blend moves with you, wicks sweat adequately, and dries quickly enough that you're not finishing a run with a damp strip around your waist. The elastic is firm without being constrictive.

What fits and what doesn't

Here's where we get honest. Three pockets sound generous until you're trying to slot in a modern smartphone. The pockets on a $9.99 belt are sized for the essentials — a key, a few cards, a gel packet, an older or smaller phone if you're lucky. If you're running with a current-generation iPhone or Galaxy, don't count on a snug fit. Test before you trust it with your only way to call for help on a long trail run.

The adjustable waistband goes up to 46 inches, which makes this genuinely inclusive — most running belts quietly top out at a smaller circumference and call it "one size." At the lower end, runners with smaller frames may find the belt sits a little loosely even cinched all the way down.

The visibility case

This is fundamentally a safety purchase. REFLECT360 is retroreflective: it needs a light source to work — car headlights, a cyclist's beam — and when that light hits, it returns it strongly. It does not glow on its own. For road running at dawn, dusk, or night in areas with any vehicle traffic, a highly reflective waistband placed exactly at hip height — which is roughly where a driver's headlights sweep — is a genuinely smart piece of kit. We wouldn't rely on it as your only visibility measure, but layered with a reflective jacket or a clip-on blinker, it earns its place.

The $9.99 reality check

You are not getting a premium running belt. The zipper pulls are functional, not durable. The stitching is adequate. After a year of regular use you'll probably replace it — but at this price, that's not a damning statement. It's a budget safety accessory that delivers on its main promise, which is more than most budget accessories do.
