The problem with propane

Everyone who owns a propane fire pit knows the awkward compromise: the fire looks gorgeous, and the squat silver tank sitting next to it does not. You can tuck it behind a planter, drape a cloth over it, or just live with it — none of which are satisfying answers when you've spent real money on an outdoor space you actually want to look at.

Design that earns the price

The finish is what justifies calling this a piece of outdoor furniture rather than an accessory. The OuterStone material has the weight and visual texture of cast concrete without looking like a garden-center bauble — it's matte, intentional, and genuinely handsome. Sitting next to the Round Fire Pit, it completes the vignette in a way that a wicker basket or a repurposed crate simply doesn't.

As a side table it's useful: a spot to rest a drink, hold the s'mores supplies, or set down a phone without worrying about it. The flat top means nothing rolls off, which isn't nothing.

Who it's designed for

This is unambiguously an Outer product for Outer customers. The proportions and colorway are calibrated to match the Round Fire Pit specifically, and while it would presumably cover any standard-sized propane tank, the design payoff is highest when you're pairing it with Outer's own fire pit setup. If you're running a different brand's fire pit, the visual harmony won't be there to justify the cost.

The honest part

Five hundred and fifty dollars is a significant number for a propane tank cover, full stop. That price reflects the material quality, the brand, and the matching-system value — but it will feel like a lot if you're considering it in isolation. This is not the product for someone who wants to solve the ugly-tank problem as cheaply as possible; there are far less expensive covers on the market. This is the product for someone who has already built an Outer outdoor space and wants every element of it to look cohesive.

We'd also note that Mineral Gray is the only colorway implied here. If your outdoor palette runs warmer or cooler, check that it works with your specific setup before purchasing.
