Our review

We just can’t help but stare at our entrancing Astier de Villatte Vu Cup. Made in collaboration with sculptor Serena Carone, this delicate vessel comes to us from renowned ceramicist Astier de Villatte’s Paris workshop, where it was handcrafted from black terracotta clay sourced from the Paris Basin and a handcarved plaster mold — a slow-paced, traditional method straight from the Middle Ages that gives each piece its own unique character. Along with Astier’s signature milky white glaze, this simple cup is carved with a stunningly lifelike blue eye, whose cold gaze is inspired by Carone’s iconic piece, “Ce que je vois” (or “What I See”). A functional work of art, it’s a delightfully strange addition to any mug collection — perfect for adding a bit of personality to your morning cup of coffee or afternoon tea. •black terracotta clay •white glaze •hand painted details •astier de villatte in collaboration with serena carone •handmade in paris •each is unique Dimensions •approximately 5"W x 3.25"D x 4"H
