Whether you need a backdrop for your flower beds or a beautiful boundary around your property, Great Neighbor Holly delivers. This plant is sure to enhance your outdoor space and invite more enjoyment in your garden. Planting Care 1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks. Choose a sunny to partially shaded location with well-drained soil. Space plants about 3–4 feet apart for optimal growth. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and slightly deeper. Place the plant in the hole and backfill with a mix of compost and soil, making sure the top of the root ball is level with the ground. Add a 3" settled layer of mulch 3 feet around the plant pulling the mulch a few inches back from the trunk. Mulch helps conserve water, insulate roots, and suppress weeds. 2. Watering: Water thoroughly immediately after planting to settle the soil. For the first growing season, ensure consistent moisture but avoid waterlogging. Once established, it can tolerate drought conditions, requiring water primarily during prolonged dry spells. 3. Pruning: Little pruning is needed. Remove any dead or damaged branches as needed. Avoid heavy pruning to preserve the natural form and fullness. 4. Fertilizing: Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to promote healthy growth. Follow package instructions to avoid over-fertilizing.
