Our review
Experience a vibrant display of early spring blooms If you’re a lover of camellias, Early Wonder is sure to capture your heart. This striking shrub boasts profuse lavender-rose blooms that are not only visually stunning but also formal in their double structure, adding a touch of elegance to any garden. With lush, dark green foliage, this plant offers year-round appeal and continues to shine even when not in bloom. Its upright habit makes it a fantastic choice for hedges, borders, or as a statement piece in a mixed garden bed. Another compelling reason to consider Early Wonder is its early blooming season. You can enjoy its beautiful blossoms in the early spring when many other plants are still waking up from winter. Planting this spectacular shrub invites vibrant color to your landscape and serves as a reminder that warmer days are on the way. With its unique characteristics, Early Wonder is a wonderful addition for creating a welcoming outdoor space. Planting Care 1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Camellias prefer well-draining, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and gently place the plant in the center, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Backfill with a mixture of native soil and compost, firming gently. Spread a 3-inch settled layer of mulch extending 3 feet around the plant to conserve moisture and protect the roots. Water thoroughly after planting. 2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, especially during dry spells. Water deeply to encourage root establishment and reduce frequency as the plant matures. Young plants may need more regular watering until established. 3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is needed and should be done right after flowering. Remove any dead or weak branches and thin the center slightly to improve airflow. 4. Fertilizing: In early spring, apply a slow-release fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants, such as Espoma Holly-tone®, following package instructions. Avoid fertilizing in late summer so the plant can properly prepare for winter dormancy.
