Our review

Hand Woven Planter Basket The Perfect Basket Planter is handwoven from locally harvested elephant grass by skilled artisans in Bolgatanga, Ghana. Elephant grass is a tall savanna grass native to the region. Weavers harvest, split, and dry the stalks before working them into baskets. The natural body carries a wide black band near the base, finished with a thick coiled rim that sits firm in the hand and holds its form. No two are identical; the natural grass varies in tone from honey to deep straw across batches. How To Use a Basket as a Planter Set a 4" or 5" nursery pot directly inside, and the basket functions as a cachepot. To plant directly, line the interior with plastic or a coco liner before adding soil, and keep standing water out to protect the fibers. At 6" diameter and 5" tall, it sits low on a windowsill or side table, alongside other small indoor plants . Made in Bolgatanga The thick, coiled rim on this basket is built by wrapping and binding additional grass around the top edge after the body is complete, shaping it by hand until it sits firm and even. Basketry has been part of daily life in the Bolgatanga district for generations, with artisans passing their skills through families as part of a living cultural tradition.
