African Woven Baskets A tight horizontal coil from base to rim gives the Natural Hamper Basket structure. Handwoven from elephant grass by artisans in Bolgatanga, Ghana, it holds its form, full or empty. Two leather-wrapped handles arc over the opening in black, sized for a two-handed grip. For Laundry and Storage Medium measures 16" in diameter and 18" tall, and Large measures 18" in diameter and 20" tall. Both sizes carry a full load of laundry or folded blankets without the sides bowing. The undyed grass tone reads neutral next to upholstery and wood. Place it at the foot of the bed or beside a console, or pair with other natural fiber storage for a layered look. Structure with Purpose In the Bolgatanga district, grass basketry and leather work have long been paired crafts. The body of this hamper is woven first.
